Who are you?
Series: (All)

Hope Worship Center, Ashland City TN. Who are you? January 6, 2019

Pastor James Walsh
Happy New Year! Did you know that 90% of people who make resolutions make them about dieting and exercising and 90% of resolutions are broken by the end of January? We all have high hope when it comes to these plans and then we fall short on them.

Let us read: Genesis 1:26-27

The world gives us the image of perfection all around us. We have this idea because the world shows us this on-line and on TV, that we are not valued or not as perfect as the people who are famous. We are looking at this through worldly eyes and saying, we are not enough. We should look at it through scripture. Scripture tells us that God created us in His image.

If you forget everything in this world, know that your God will not forget you, he will never forsake you.  He has plans for you and he wants to be in your presence again.  When you were a sinner, he died for you and his blood was shed for us!

Write these scriptures down and highlight them in your bibles.
  • Isiah 49:15
  • Jeremiah 29:11
  • Romans 5:8
  • 1 Peter 1 :18-19
We need to be excited when we read these scriptures!   When the world says, you don't do this, so you are not this.  In times like that, we can remember people like David who was a man after God's own heart. He didn't care what he looked like or what people thought of him. Don't listen to the devil when he says no-one needs to know what you are dealing with or that no-one cares. We have all been there. David was there. We don't need to think about what the world thinks about us. We need to think about what God thinks about us.

You also should know that are not an image of the things that happened to you or the things that you cannot control. You are not an image of who your mom and dad raised or did not raise. You are a child of the most high kid. He said you were worth every moment.

He has loved me when I was a sinner. He has loved me through every trial. I am sick and tired of the world telling me I am not who I am. I am going to be loved and I am going to be victorious. So know who you are!

And lastly, know who is God.   Hebrews 13:8 tell us that he is all knowing, all loving and will never forsake us.  If you feel alone, know that you are not. God never leaves us.

My final scripture for today's sermon is 2 Corinthians 2:5.  I want nothing to come between me and my relationship with God.  I have hope! How about you?

What season are you in? Part-1
    Series: (All)

Hope Worship Center Ashland City, TN
What season are you in?  Youth Pastor James Walsh

What is your favorite season? Ecclesiastes 3:1  - To everything there is a season.  And a time and purpose under the heaven.

It is true that there is a different season for different times in our lives.  I am going to use the analogy of the season's of the farmer. As Christian's, we love living in the fall time - the harvest time.  When someone has a breakthrough or when someone is being saved. When lives are being touched.  Or to go on facebook and see something positive about the love of Christ.   The harvest is a great time.  Sometimes, we get stuck in the harvest mindset, so we think it is always suppose to be that way.   It is not always about the harvest.  It doesn't come for free...

Next we have the least favorite - spring.   We plant the seed and we worry - will it grow? ...

Then there is the waiting season - summer.  Although waiting is not fun, it is sometimes a necessary season in life. If you are waiting on God - know that he will shine through...

Last, the relaxing season - Winter.  Time to enjoy our family and friends.  However, we can get lost in this season.   Instead of getting completing relaxed for a long duration, we should also this season to stay prepared.

"So I want you to ask yourself, what is it that is yours, that the enemy is trying to take away?  He can't take it away unless you give it to him.  He can't take your joy, your peace..."
