Who are you?
Series: (All)

Hope Worship Center, Ashland City TN. Who are you? January 6, 2019

Pastor James Walsh
Happy New Year! Did you know that 90% of people who make resolutions make them about dieting and exercising and 90% of resolutions are broken by the end of January? We all have high hope when it comes to these plans and then we fall short on them.

Let us read: Genesis 1:26-27

The world gives us the image of perfection all around us. We have this idea because the world shows us this on-line and on TV, that we are not valued or not as perfect as the people who are famous. We are looking at this through worldly eyes and saying, we are not enough. We should look at it through scripture. Scripture tells us that God created us in His image.

If you forget everything in this world, know that your God will not forget you, he will never forsake you.  He has plans for you and he wants to be in your presence again.  When you were a sinner, he died for you and his blood was shed for us!

Write these scriptures down and highlight them in your bibles.
  • Isiah 49:15
  • Jeremiah 29:11
  • Romans 5:8
  • 1 Peter 1 :18-19
We need to be excited when we read these scriptures!   When the world says, you don't do this, so you are not this.  In times like that, we can remember people like David who was a man after God's own heart. He didn't care what he looked like or what people thought of him. Don't listen to the devil when he says no-one needs to know what you are dealing with or that no-one cares. We have all been there. David was there. We don't need to think about what the world thinks about us. We need to think about what God thinks about us.

You also should know that are not an image of the things that happened to you or the things that you cannot control. You are not an image of who your mom and dad raised or did not raise. You are a child of the most high kid. He said you were worth every moment.

He has loved me when I was a sinner. He has loved me through every trial. I am sick and tired of the world telling me I am not who I am. I am going to be loved and I am going to be victorious. So know who you are!

And lastly, know who is God.   Hebrews 13:8 tell us that he is all knowing, all loving and will never forsake us.  If you feel alone, know that you are not. God never leaves us.

My final scripture for today's sermon is 2 Corinthians 2:5.  I want nothing to come between me and my relationship with God.  I have hope! How about you?

    The Race, Part 2
    Series: (All)
Sunday Morning Service - Hope Worship Center Ashland City, TN. Pastor Rick Walsh. December 30, 2018 Scripture for the Sermon can be found in: Hebrews 12:1, 1 Corinthians 9:24 Have you ever felt like you were in the wrong race? We are called to be in the race of life for Christ, not sit on the sidelines. We get aggravated and want to quit. We need to remember it is not over, until he returns. Do you think that when we give our lives to God, and accept Christ into our lives that its happiness and easy going every day? Do you feel like the weight of the world is on you? Nothing seems to go right at all. This is because we are Strong. We need to pray, "Give us another day God so I can help someone." To God be the Glory. He is our strength. Let us put our faith, hope and work in him and finish the race strong.  Let's look forward to heaven.   He sets us in motion for the race we are suppose to run.  When you slow down, check things out - are you weak? Is something wrong? Do you need prayer? God tells us - Get over yourself. It's not about you - it's about me. God has told you that you are a winner, so Get up, Get ready and finish this race. God has not returned so we still have to continue to move forward and reach others along the way.  We have to keep training to get where we need to be. It's not easy to just show up and say, "Here I am!"  WE have to remind ourselves that greater is He that is in me. It doesn't matter if you have quit, it matters that you get back up and keep going.  We have opportunities to win a soul for him.

How many of you said this year, "I want peace and good will?"  And then, how many of you started making lists of items, like new car, more money, less work hours?

What does a gift mean to you?  We received the ultimate Gift, but do we know what that means?
    Romans 5:15
    Ephesians 2:80

Do we know what we need to do in order to obtain that gift?  Not by society's standards, but by God's?   To be naughty or nice for society is very different than what God would say.

We think if give to the needy, God will give us credit. We think if we straighten up our act, God will give us credit. We think if be a good person, God will give us credit.   I am not saying we shouldn't do good things, but we can't sacrifice ourselves by not understanding what it means to accept the Gift.
