It is quiet in the house.  It is also 5:00 a.m.  The alarms will sound in the next hour and the house will become alive with noise. Noise that fills an entire day.

People, dogs, dishes, breakfast, lunches, chores, chaos, short words, quick questions, quick goodbyes.  And off we go to begin our day. Noise.

In the car we plan the day and what we need to be doing next and what we should have done already. Noise.

We stay busy all day from one item to the next and we fill our lives with things that we are supposed to do. School, work, doctor appointments, friends, family, Talking to people we want to talk to and talking to people we do not want to talk to. Noise.

Grocery shopping, kid activities, planning birthday parties and the next family event, thinking about how we can redecorate the house one more time…stop for this and that, what is it I forgot to do today?  More Noise

We come home.  The day isn’t over. Dinner, clothes to wash, dogs to feed and walk, chores at a house, homework, items to care for that we promised other people or ourselves.  Noise.

At the end of the day, we tell ourselves what we didn’t get done and must do tomorrow.  Noise.

Father, forgive me. I have too much noise in my life and not enough you. I want people to see Jesus in me and my life and not my noise.  I gave you 10 minutes during my 24-hour day today.  Forgive me father.  I can do better.
